Fairhope, Alabama:
Located on the Eastern Shore of Mobile Bay lies
the quaint town of Fairhope. Fairhope began when a group of people got together
in 1864 calling themselves Single Tax Colonists settled the land. They believed
in no taxes other than a single land tax based on the economic theories of Henry
George. Legend says that one of the colonists believed that they had a fair hope
of succeeding thus leading to the naming of the town Fairhope. Today, the town
is bustling with activity. Downtown Fairhope is home to numerous small shops,
restaurants, and is located within walking distance to the Bay.
